Stop Saying You Support Hillary Clinton

Hillary ClintonYes, that’s right, I’m talking to you.  You know who you are.  Don’t act like you don’t know what I’m talking about or who I’m talking to.  I’m talking to all those supporters of Hillary Clinton who are saying now they will go and support and vote for John McCain.  Do everyone a favor and just admit that you only supported Hillary Clinton because she was a women, not because of the policies she advocated. It would make it so much more easier on us.

Since Barack Obama became the presumptive Democratic Nominee, news broadcasts and political blogs have been littered with political pundits reporting that many Clinton supporters (mainly women) are now going to back McCain in some sort of poorly thought out act of selfish revenge. The comment sections of these sites are full of Clinton supporters bashing Obama and claiming that they will now be voting for McCain in November. The sad part is that they are only hurting themselves and they are too blinded my emotion to see it.

The Corporate Age Divide

CubiclesI’m 24 and work at a large corporation as part of a larger IT support group. I’ve sat in a gray/white cubicle, participated in those meaningless meetings mandated from the “higher ups” and signed dozens of birthday cards for people that I rarely ever speak to for over 2 years now. Based on my experiences with my own job and observing the work habits/behavior of other employees in their 20’s and as well as employees who I will refer to as older employees (30’s and 40’s), I thought I’d take a little time to blog about my thoughts on what I refer to as the corporate age divide.

To be completely straight forward and probably contrary to what some older people think, from my experience of observing people their 20’s is that they almost universally are much harder workers, better dressed, more technical, and more inclined toward upward mobility than most workers of other age groups. I don’t know if it is a declared problem (or even looked at as a problem) but there is no doubt that this corporate age divide exists and if these corporations don’t start addressing the problem they will start seeing a drop in new hires of people in their 20’s and the age gap of workers continue to widen. The fact of the matter is that workers right out of college regularly work circles around the established employees they’re supposed to be learning from.

My Problem With John McCain

McCainBefore anyone jumps down my throat with the usual defense that John McCain was a POW who served bravely in Vietnam so he deserves more respect, please read the whole article before jumping to any conclusions.

First off, I am well aware that he was a prisoner of war, and gave a lot to this country. No one is arguing that, denying that or discounting that. He has given more to this country than I probably ever will. When he was given permission to leave early, he refused any special treatment. He has my respect for his service to his country, but beyond that he is just another politician says anything he can to get a vote. A liar is a liar.

People like to use his past as an excuse for his positions and actions now. When you criticize his position on Iraq the usual response is because he was a POW he knows what he is talking about. As much as you or he might want, his history cannot be used as a shield.

Evolution Proven False: Proof Using Peanut Butter

EvolutionI sat down and looked at all the scientific evidence available. I came to the conclusion that, without a doubt, evolution has the most solid evidence backing it up, and believed that that any other theory was the not correct due to lack of solid evidence.

But, that was before I saw this video. They make make a tough point here. How can you argue when you’re going against evidence like this.

The Homosexual Agenda

Gay PrideOne of the most challenging aspects about being a liberal Democrat and supporting a Republican candidate (Ron Paul) is not that when I tell my friends or family that I’m voting for a Republican they roll their nose and eyes at me, but that I’m subjected to all the other aspects of the Republican party and the rest of the candidates. Ignoring the fact that they are all pro-war, I am also “forced” to go to the various “family values” websites if I want to keep up on a certain debate or recent interview.

I’ve learned that people from the southern states really have this fear of homosexuals. I’ve always known that they don’t like them, but over the last few months I have realized that it goes much deeper than that.  They seem to have a honest fear of them.  Let me say that I do understand that most people interpret the Bible as saying that being a homosexual is a sin. While only a few lines say that two men together is an abomination (as is eating shellfish) , it doesn’t come out and say “being a homosexual is a sin!” That however is neither here nor there. It’s the fact that they actually want to enact federal laws that prohibit gays in the military or gay marriage.  Where would it stop?

Back to my point, during several interviews and debates with various religious and other “family values” groups the question kept coming up asking, “What as president, would you do to stop the homosexual agenda in Washington?”

What exactly is the homosexual agenda?

How To Fire A Teacher

Stop-DropIt’s not a secret that America’s public school systems are failing. I recently watched a documentary by John Stossel called Stupid In America*.’ Stossel investigates the the American public school system, comparing it to other countries (among other things) and going into depth over the involvement of the Teacher’s Union and how it is actually the one of the biggest causes of the failure.

In the video he raises the question about firing bad teachers. Take a moment and see how many teachers you’ve had over the years that you’d consider bad. If you’re like most people you probably were able to name just more than a few.

Geek Squad - The Rise And Fall

Geek Squad CarIf you’ve been following the news for the last several months, you’ve probably heard about the Geek Squad and employees stealing data and porn off of customer’s computers. If you haven’t, head over to The Consumerist and catch up. I worked at Best Buy for several years, with the majority of them in the Geek Squad. I thought that I’d share my thoughts and experiences that I had with the Geek Squad and try to explain to you that, at one point, the Geek Squad was actually a good idea and a reputable company despite the “geek” gimmick.

Bush/Cheney Impeachment? Yeah Right

ImpeachFor the last several months all we’ve heard about is impeachment. This all started when Dennis Kucinich introduced a bill to have Dick Cheney impeached. Let me say however that I’m all for removing Bush and Cheney. I hate them as much as you and the rest of the world. The problem is that the effort is “too little too late”.

Getting Fat

Well, in case you were wondering what 4 years of an unhealthy eating and no exercise did to a human, you can stop wondering because I did it.

I think the worst thing about getting fat is not the getting fat part, but the transition people who rarely see you miss. I mean, I do think I’m a decent looking guy. I’m no Tom Welling (so dreamy) but you know what I’m getting it. If I shave, do my hair, and but on a nice shirt I don’t look half bad, despite the weight. I know I’d look better if I lost some weight, but overall I wouldn’t classify myself as an “ugly fat guy” (yet!).

Tom Welling

Let me explain..

Just Shaking My Hand

When it comes to shaking someone’s hand, it isn’t as simple as you think. Women are lucky, they rarely (if ever) need to deal with this. There needs to be some sort of unified rule across ALL COUNTRIES and ALL RACES. When you meet someone for the first time, and you go to shake their hand. It should look EXACTLY like this (suit jacket and all!)..

A simple handshake. The worst is when you meet someone and you go for the normal handshake, and they decide to twist it all up and do some lame hand jiggle. You’ve been in that situation, I know it. You meet someone new. You reach out to shake his hand, and he, at the last second, flips his hand up and you end up fucking up the handshake. Now, you look stupid because you didn’t do the “cool” handshake.

But it gets worse. You go in for the handshake. You notice the guy changing his hand for one of those “hey I’m cool.” handshakes. You make the move, you land your hand perfectly to complete this handshake. But, at the end of the shake, when you think all is done and well, the person continues on. They do a snap, or a flip or some lame as thing you fumble on.

No matter who you are, when you mess up a handshake you feel like an idiot. You try to play it off but deep down you feel like an idiot.

So, please, when you shake someone’s hand who you just met. A simple handshake is all that is required. After you’ve known the person for a little bit, then you can add in your own style where you shake hands for 2 minutes as you dance around.
