If You Can’t Beat Him, Laugh At Him

Ron PaulIt would appear that the Giuliani Campaign has shifted gears. First, instead of mentioning 9/11 in every answer, he decided to mention that he isn’t talking about 9/11 is almost every answer. His second shift in strategy is now to laugh at Ron Paul whenever a question was directed towards him.

If you watched the debate last night you can hear him laughing at Ron Paul during an answer, before a question was even asked, and even during the time when the question was being given. What kind of unprofessional garbage is this? This isn’t a debate to determine who will be the 9th grade class president. While it is hard to say who exactly laughed each time, it was obvious that Giuliani and Romney did.

Giuliani learned at the first debate that he cannot take on Ron Paul. Romney also knew better not to try. Last time Giuliani took on Ron Paul, he was shot down and it became apparent to the people watching that Giuliani is not as educated on several of the issues he campaigns on. So instead of being made a fool again by actually responding back to Ron Paul on matters that he didn’t agree with (like Huckabee did), he took the cowards way out and just laughed in the microphone.

Even during the debate, Fox News would occasionally throw up a split screen where you can see Giuliani with a huge idiotic smile on his face, licking his lips, and laughing. A very distinctive laugh if you’ve been following the presidential race over the last few months.

Short of being ask a ridiculous question about Fred Thompson at the beginning of the debate, it took nearly 31 minutes before he was asked a serious question. In the end, Ron Paul was given only 3 or 4 questions. Even with only being asked a low number of questions, Ron Paul made one of the biggest impacts at the debate last night. It was hard to gauge how the audience took him. Every answer he gave caused a huge uproar in applause and cheers. On the contrary, the applause for most other candidates was pretty comparable. I don’t know if it is my slight bias talking, but to me it sounded like the applause for Ron Paul was more consistent and louder.

Out of all the questions he was asked, it was obvious that they were formulated to discredit or make him look bad. One of his questions was a huge misquote in reference to the airlines and guns. Another question about the Iraq War was followed up by Chris Wallace verbally implying that Ron Paul wants America to do whatever Al Qaeda says.

Wallace: So Congressman Paul, and I’d like you to take 30 seconds to answer this, you’re basically saying we should take our marching orders from Al Qaida if they want us off the Arabian Peninsula we should leave?

Paul: NO! (Emphatically pointing at questioner) (Applause) I’m saying we should take our marching orders from our Constitution (Applause). We should not go to war without a declaration - we should not go to war when it’s an aggressive war . . . that’s where I take my marching orders, not from any enemy.

The biggest highlight of the night was the exchange between Ron Paul and Mike Huckabee.

Huckabee: Congressman [Ron Paul], whether or not we should have gone to Iraq is a discussion the historians can have, but we’re there. We bought it because we broke it. We’ve got a responsibility to the honor of this country and to the honor of every man and woman who has served in Iraq and ever served in our military to not leave them with anything less than the honor that they deserve.

Paul: The American people didn’t go in. A few people advising this administration, a small number of people called the neoconservatives hijacked our foreign policy. They’re responsible, not the American people.

Huckabee: We can’t be divided. We have to be one nation, under God. That means if we make a mistake, we make it as a single country: the United States of America, not the divided states of America.

Paul: No, when we make a mistake — when we make a mistake, it is the obligation of the people, through their representatives, to correct the mistake, not to continue the mistake. We have lost over 5000 over there in Afganistan and Iraq. How many more do you want to lose? How long are you going to be there? How long? What do we have to pay to save face? Thats all we’re doing is saving face. It’s time we come home.

After the debate, Fox News had a phone poll. Ron Paul won by a landslide. He had 33% of the votes, while Huckabee came in 2nd with 18%. Fratboy Sean Hannity claimed that it was only a few Ron Paul supporters spamming the votes, yet you were only able to vote once per phone number.

How do you know it was Giuliani laughing? Do we have a video of this? Maybe it was one of the hosts who was laughing… In any case, I would love to find what candidates, if any, laughed.

There are several times you can hear and see Giuliani laughing. A few times they did a split-screen a few times where he was laughing. He was laughing, looking over at Paul, and licking his lips. Plus his voice/laugh is pretty recognizable. You can easily find a video of him laughing, and compare it to last night.

While I can’t say that he was the ONLY person laughing, it was obvious that Giuliani was one of the people laughing. I think in another angle you can see Romney laughing as well.

Giuliana was laughing at the size of his own dick.

I don’t know much about Ron Paul, but I can tell you that I would never vote for Rudy G… Not after his villian like appearance and actions last night. What a scum bag.

It wasn’t only Giuliani lookin like a villain, this morning (fell asleep with FN on) they were interviewing the “winner” of the debate McCain, and he was lookin pretty villainous cracking on Ron Paul, and making jokes about Iraq.

I think you’re right about that Beatrice LOL

Well, he has been ignored when he first started running. He has been laughed at (even prior to last night). Now they are going to fight him, though I guess one could argue they’ve been fighting him since the beginning.

We need a non-bias debate. No CNN, no Fox News, or any other media outlet. We need a debate where each candidate gets EQUAL time. But, I’m just a dreamer.

What a farce that was.It is shame that Ron Paul has to step to the paid by special interest MSM with their manipulated stage platforms to present the American people with his views.Dr.Paul nailed them good despite the limited time allocated for him to speak.Sean Hannity stinks so bad I wondered how Dr. Paul agreed to come so near him after the debates.

I think the debate was a disgrace and the laughing jackasses only made matters worse. Ron Paul and Brownback and Huckabee are going to be at the Values Voters Debates in Ft. Lauderdale Florida on September 17th. This is going to be video stream on the Internet. All of the hyenas have bowed out of the debate, so it ought to be much more respectable.

I’ve been following Dr Paul for about 20 years. I knew he was one of the few Congressmen to support Ronald Reagan when he ran for President. That turned out ok. He and Mr Reagan were close. They share the same temperment and character. I know that Dr Paul has to be the candidate. We’ve got the NAU a sliding dollar, a National ID We need professional help from someone that has a track record of doing the right things for this country.
    Go Dr Paul Go!!!

It’s amazing to see how FOX keeps shootig itself in the foot. The more they try to downplay Ron Paul’s landslide victory in the debate, the more popular he becomes.

He has created a Grassfire in this country and I’m enjoying every moment of it. The American people are rising up and not allowing the media to vote for them. Sean Hannity is an idiot mouthpeace for the neo-con “Nazi” con men. It’s so plain to see how fair and balanced he really is.

    Unbalanced is more accurate.

Eventually they will either have to choose to not talk about the 2008 race anymore, or start giving Ron Paul more coverage.

It isn’t going to be 9 people forever.

All ideas are at first Rediculed, then Oppressed, then…after time and much “struggling” they become Self Evident. Thus the acoronym: R.O.S.E

I am encouraged when one man with courage will stand up and fight for what he believes. Even at the onslaught of Riducule and oppresseion.

Much of the oppression coming from a controlled media, which definitely does not want the populous to even get a glympse of an American Constutionalist.

All it takes for men to slide into “slavery” is for a few good men to do nothing.

    Wake up America!

I did watch the debate from beginning to end. While I previously had a fairly high regard for Ron Paul because of some of the stands he has taken, I lost all regard for the man with his statements regarding Iraq.

Regarding his support during and after the debate, it was very clear that support, applause etc. was coming from a specific section and not overall support from the audience. As far as the the vote on Fox, I’d have to say that it was stacked; & by the way it was calculated via text messaging NOT via phone. In my opinion, Mr. Paul has NO credibility in what he says, could you honestly think that he’s Presidential material? It’s disappointing and somewhat discouraging to me to think that there are even a few people in the US that would consider voting for the man.

While I believe that we certainly need to address the huge government bureaucracy, Mr. Paul, in my opinion, is not the person to do it! One can continue to “cry” about his treatment in the debates or the press, but I for one, amy very glad that he does not get more coverage than he does. He’s a nut case!

The bobbleheads that run the MSM keep calling it for Romney, and giving points to McCain, or Guiliani, or Huckabee. But this Paul guy has got legs, and when the first primaries come down in the beginning of next year he might be taken more seriously. He doesn’t have to win right off the bat, he has to do better than expected, which will give him momentum for the second round. While I don’t think he can win (caveat: I swing left ;-) I think its very important for him to be in this race and stir up the pot that he’s stirring. The other candidates are noticing, FOX will notice him in time.

I watched the same debate, but I didn’t notice any of the candidates getting applause from a certain section. But, who cares if he did get applause from one section? It was obvious that he had a lot of supports there based on the loud applause he got when introduced, and when he finished answering a question.

How can you ignore that fact that he is winning straw poll after straw poll (and won the NH straw poll). So, to imply that the support was fake, or specific to a few people is as narrow minded as Fox News is.

The vote that he won WAS based on the phone number. You send in a text message from your cell phone, and your number goes into a database so that you can’t vote more than once. I don’t see what your point is.

But regardless if you love or hate Ron Paul, to say that you are glad he doesn’t get more coverage in a bias media system is arrogant to say the least. Every candidate, even the ones you hate, and the ones I hate, should be given equal time and equal questions.

And next time you claim he has no creditability, it would be best to provide examples. I know it’s easier to say someone sucks, and not give any reasons why, but I’d love to hear why you think he has no creditability especially vs. the other GOP candidates.

Come on Stan, you don’t expect a reader to believe you ever had a high regard for Dr. Paul. If what you said was really true then you show yourself as a very shallow thinker, a one trick pony, the phony friend who turns his back at the first disagreement, never to be heard from again. Give substantive examples where you disagree with the good doctor. He is far from being a nut case, as you ridiculed. You did a very poor job hiding your true colors, like the laughing ghouls from the debate night, your cheap attack falls on ears far more discerning than you apparently can imagine.

  19. 19 Big_Sheikh

The Giuliani campaign either fed those insults masquerading as “questions” to the Fox Nazis, or they had them in advance. Giuliani is a criminal. If he gets in, I’m outta here.

  20. 20 Jessica Elliott

    Stan,
It is peculiar to me that you once supported Dr. Paul until you heard his opinion on Iraq. If you truly had “high regard” for him, you would have known his position before the debate, considering his main platform focuses on foreign policy. Also, to “lose regard” for the most honest and consistent man in Congress is hardly believable. Ron Paul’s record is above reproach. He is consistently pro-life (not just with the unborn child, but also with American and Iraqi lives). I am baffled that you are “discouraged” that such a man has supporters–a man who defends the Constitution and our personal liberties with every fiber of his being. I am confused–how might the text message vote have been manipulated? Do you mean to say that Ron Paul supporters each have 10 cellphones so they can cast multiple votes? After all, it was impossible to vote more than once from the same phone. I do believe you will be quite shocked come primary time, when Dr. Paul’s support is finally manifested in votes. You will see Democrats who have switched parties to vote for him; you will see young people who have never cared enough to vote before; you will see cynical voters who finally have found a candidate who isn’t just working for the establishment and the GOP machine. As someone who used to think highly of Dr. Paul, you should revisit his positions, for they are constitutional and historically justified.

  21. 21 Janelle Robinson

Jessica, I totally agree with you 100% and knowing that he has a lot of support from all over the world and the US, he has a great chance of winning the primaries. He has a superb voting record, better than any of the others.
