Bush/Cheney Impeachment? Yeah Right

ImpeachFor the last several months all we’ve heard about is impeachment. This all started when Dennis Kucinich introduced a bill to have Dick Cheney impeached. Let me say however that I’m all for removing Bush and Cheney. I hate them as much as you and the rest of the world. The problem is that the effort is “too little too late”.

It’s impossible to visit a site like Digg and not read a headline titled “BREAKING: Bush and Cheney to be impeached!” or something similar. Every week a new article with new “proof” that it is going to happen. People fail to remember that being impeached is different than being kicked out of office. So even if they did impeach the President and/or Vice President, it would be months before the proceedings would end.  Do we kick them out with six months left? Is that even worth it?

In 2006, I was just as excited as most Americans. We finally get to see the Democrats come in and save the day. Everyone felt that change was in the air.  But slowly the months fell off the calendar and the hopes of the promises they made slowly diminished with every passing week. The democrats fooled us. They made you believe that if we voted for them that they would take our government back from the crazies running the place now. They led you to believe that the nonsense we’ve been dealing with for the last six years was over. They sure fooled all of us.

So let’s just do everyone a favor and stop wasting time and energy on impeaching Bush. They brush off the threats like they were nothing.  They know by the time that those impeachment hearings would be over they would already be moving out of the Whitehouse. Instead of holding up “Impeach Bush!” signs and wasting your time why not just hold up a “ONLY A YEAR LEFT! WE CAN MAKE IT!” sign?

The Bush Administration will continue to do what they have been doing for almost seven years now. They will continue to live above the law, changing it when it doesn’t work for them.  We put our hopes into the Congress that only fooled us.  It is quite evident that they are a “do nothing Congress” as Truman once said.

Just do yourself a favor, read and learn about Ron Paul.  Let’s get America back in 2008.

Congress goes slow, esp. the Senate. They are called deliberative bodies for a reason…they take a long time to do things. Now there is an added twist…everything they do, the executive branch will just say NO, and the judicial branch will go, right, what he said. Congress can’t do much in that situation. Take the contempt of congress citations….if issued they are to be carried out by dept. of justice. DOJ has stated they will not. So the DOJ will be in charge of its own contempt of congress.

And the funny thing…executive privilege? Not in the constitution, not mandated by law…it is a privilege given to the president by congress as a courtesy.
