Getting Fat

Well, in case you were wondering what 4 years of an unhealthy eating and no exercise did to a human, you can stop wondering because I did it.

I think the worst thing about getting fat is not the getting fat part, but the transition people who rarely see you miss. I mean, I do think I’m a decent looking guy. I’m no Tom Welling (so dreamy) but you know what I’m getting it. If I shave, do my hair, and but on a nice shirt I don’t look half bad, despite the weight. I know I’d look better if I lost some weight, but overall I wouldn’t classify myself as an “ugly fat guy” (yet!).

Let me explain..

When you’re around the same people for years (your friends, family, etc) and you start gaining weight, it isn’t as noticeable. Sure, they know you’re getting fatter, but it isn’t much of a shock. They were with you for those first 10 pounds, and with you with those other 10 pounds later down the road. But for the most part you feel pretty comfortable around your friends and family.

Let me explain the worst part about getting fat. The worst thing is when you meet your old friends from college and high school after years have gone by. It’s probably one of the most uncomfortable feelings. It’s great to see them and catch up, but you’re always subconscious about your weight. Because I’ll be honest, when I see someone for the first time in years who I used to know the first thing I notice is if they gained weight. I seem like such a hypocrite saying that but it’s the truth.

To continue on with how horrible it is and purposely ignoring the obvious health risks associated with getting fat, computers make getting fatter horrible. These social websites have popped up such as Facebook. These sites let you reunite with your old friends who scattered across the state and country after high school. When you find an old friend, the first thing you do is check out the pictures. People who haven’t seen me in years have to be shocked I’ve gained all this weight. I hate knowing that, but what are you going to do. Are you going to post pictures of myself from years ago (which I’ve maybe done ;)) or photoshop yourself thinner? No, you gotta take it for what it is.

Thanks for reading, had to get that off my chest. Though I’ve said this countless times before, I am going to lose weight before my wedding. I’m not going to hate every picture I’m in on the sole basis that I’m fat.
